Featured Song

The newest release is "Feel Like a Fool" which actually has a bit of a story behind it. It started off as a song called "Silent Heart" which I started writing over Christmas. I was not completely happy with it when it was completed so I went to work changing drum beats, all the vocals and a few of the synths. The two versions available online are the result of probably 100 to 120 hours work. Another song called "You'd Be Better Without My Love" took probably over 100 hours so this song has been a labour of love. During the reworking process, a couple of fairly major things happened. First of all one of our family dogs died. The sense of loss inspired the line "The memories we have can never be taken away" which I wrote about "Gidget" but in the song I am using an allegory of a man who has learned that his girlfriend has been unfaithful.
The other major event is I have become "Vegan." I don't know what the official figures are in Australia (where I live) but in the USA I think 1% of the population are vegan. This means I no longer eat meat, dairy or eggs. I don't intend to write songs in the future that are overly political but there may be at least one song that might address this topic and the cruel practices that result. 10 billion animals were killed last year, and the exploitation of the female reproductive system in animals is one of the worst aspects of it that concerns me most.
The title of the song reflects how I felt when I realised what is happening and how all my beliefs had led me to the point where I now feel compelled to act. I feel like a fool.
Anyway I hope you enjoy both versions.

Biography

Biography

Ian Munn started playing in the band Delirium in Sydney in the early 90's supporting Australia's biggest alternative acts, gigging and touring the east coast of NSW. His songwriting abilities and signature guitar riffing earned him a loyal following as he played in several bands following Delirium's demise. Finally in 1998 he hooked up with the band Beware of the Dog and formed a strong combination with Jordan Howe on lead vocals. The style was definitely heavier which suited Ian's catchy groove laden riffs.

After leaving the band in 2003, Ian took an extended break from music. Many around him wondered why Ian had stopped playing given his previous passion for making music. It seems in 2009 the drive and motivation has returned.

Under the moniker of Ian Munn Solo Artist Ian has written, performed and produced several songs that are dancier, more electronic sounding and certainly catchy. The songs have been received well online and have been available for free download at the artists website.

The EP "Late Night Sessions" is slated for release in December 2009 and will include tweaked versions of the songs currently available as well as a couple of previously unheard tracks.

Lyrics to "Strangers."

Just uploaded the lyrics to my newest song. Strangers is about childhood being lost in this age of media saturation. There is always a bit of a love song in all my songs too. All the lyrics have a page on http://ianmunnsoloartist.com but here are the lyrics for the new one:

STRANGERS

Can't explain this feeling
I feel like this
Never mind the side effects
Take me to another place
Where the pain will go away
Lets go lets go talk to strangers
I just don't care anymore
Don't tell me don't tell me what to do
I've become what I used to hate
Can't escape what you can't explain
Some things will never be the same
Love life
Play your part
I'll do it again always
I just don't know
Why you make me feel this way
I just wanna know How you make me feel this way.

Strangers Re-released with Some Tweaks

If you are one of those who heard "Strangers" in the first few days then you heard a rare edition that is no longer available. After considerably more critical listening, I have given it some new modifications and remixed and remastered it with about a 100% improvement. You can hear it on the music player or at http://ianmunnsoloartist.com

News From the Official Site

"Lullaby" is set to be Ian's first iTunes single with the wheels to be set in motion this week for a December release. This follows the new song "Strangers" becoming available. The new song has a slightly rockier feel yet maintains the electronic flavour of the previous releases. Check it out if you haven't already. Ian already has "Lullaby" and "Strangers" available for purchase on My Music Site. Follow the link on the links page to check out his profile as if you are here you can download the song for free at least for now.

D.M.P Studios

There is a new song in the pipeline and there has been some massive additions to the studio. The home studio I am now calling D.M.P Studios (Digital Musical Playground) as I feel it deserves a title due to the assets it now has. New plug ins have given me true mastering capabilities, some great guitar sounds and some wide vocoding and distortion options.
Just found out the drum software I am using was used in the number 1 Whitney Houston album in the USA at present. I feel I am getting the drum samples from Superior drummer 2.0 sounding like real drums which I am stoked about. I have a film clip being created right now which will contain some Manga animation.
Be sure to check out the Mas ISO remix of Lullaby which I am strongly considering putting on iTunes as a commercial release. This means that soon it will be necessary to pay to download it instead of being a free download.
